Message from the IATF Chairperson
The COVID-19 pandemic shook the world to its core; but even as this health crisis of unprecedented scale continues to affect the world’s economy, society, and safety, we all bore witness to the rise of a new class of heroes who consistently went and continue to go above and beyond the call of duty. We saw how our frontliners continued to venture out, risking their safety, as the rest of the country closed borders, restricted mobility, and took refuge within the confines of their homes.
This pandemic is no less than a war fought within communities and behind hospital doors. The mere idea of this would be enough to send most of us scurrying into the comfort and safety of our homes, but not our frontliners. For them, to endure and carry the colossal burden of keeping our nation afloat is the ultimate service they could render for their country.
To our frontliners, words will never be enough to express how grateful we are for the sacrifices and the strength all of you continue to show. Your inexhaustible commitment to your sworn duties gives the country hope as we continue working towards a better normal.
On behalf of the Inter-Agency Task Force, together with the rest of the government, allow me to say that we are profoundly honored to serve alongside you in this battle. Know that the country is in awe of your continued response to the call of service, and that the depth of your commitment to serve continues to drive our nation’s healing.
As one country, let us stand with, behind, and as one with our frontliners in working to overcome this trial and wake up to better days and brighter dawns. Together, let us heal as one.
Para sa inyong walang katapusang dedikasyon at serbisyo, maraming salamat at mabuhay kayo!
FRANCISCO T. DUQUE III, MD, MSc Secretary Department of Health
